On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard call records and data recovered from phones documented Ms Wandelt consistently asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over the past two years.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - when she was three years old during a trip in Portugal - is among the most covered child disappearance cases and is still unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

A separate voicemail, played in court, documented Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine was, but I know what I feel."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's voicemail expressed: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I'm her? Then what? Is that not important for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I possess a existence here in Poland, I only wish to discover," the message continued.

The jury was told that via emails, SMS messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a biological test, forwarded early photographs to her phone in a attempt to display a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and asserted to have "flashbacks" from a youth with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with law enforcement who compiled the evidence, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also reached out to close associates of the McCanns, based on the communication logs.

On 9 October 2024, the father responded to a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, declaring she had "incorrect contact information."

That day Ms Wandelt deposited a recording on Mrs McCann's voicemail stating "I will continue and I will prove my point."

Kate and Gerry McCann testified to the court from using a protective barrier on Wednesday

The court learned the co-defendant established a connection via internet with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a trip to the McCanns' home in Leicestershire in last December.

Call logs demonstrated Mrs Spragg had contacted via WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the news outlets had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the months preceding the trip to Rothley, that area, in last December.

The court was told message exchanges between the two defendants, in that autumn, discussing trying to acquire Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her bins or from utensils at a eating establishment.

"We need to assert ourselves," Mrs Spragg advised Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the visit to their house, Mrs Spragg sent a communication which said: "We find ourselves sat near the McCanns' home with our vehicle dark resembling private investigators. I had hoped to achieve this with someone else I never thought I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."

The proceedings proceeds.
