Heavy Rains Exacerbate Circumstances for Displaced Gazans, Agencies Caution
Persistent precipitation over the recent period have compounded the precarious circumstances of the hundreds of thousands of evacuated civilians in the Gaza Strip, as reported by relief organizations.
"Awful" Conditions Creates Serious Dangers
A official characterized the weather overnight as "horrendous", with precipitation so heavy that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the streets.
"The recent weather was truly horrendous for the families. The downpours were so intense... And the gales were so powerful," noted the spokesperson.
Authorities voice extreme worry that children residing in makeshift shelters in wet clothing will contract hypothermia and other ailments.
Fatalities and Widespread Destruction
Health authorities have confirmed that one baby has succumbed from hypothermia and no fewer than 11 other people have lost their lives in structural failures due to the severe weather.
Further statements indicate a higher death toll. Officials reported that multiple homes had totally fallen and many others had been partly destroyed.

Assistance Distribution Seen as Insufficient
Organizations have escalated distribution of tents, blankets and garments after the ceasefire commenced, but they have said there is continues to be not enough aid entering.
"We are working relentlessly to provide that assistance and to hand it out, but the magnitude of the necessities is so enormous that we are faced with thousands of people and minors who are really suffering each evening," warned one spokesperson.
Future Issues and Ceasefire Provisions
The next stage of the truce includes proposals for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of troops, and other terms.
Humanitarian groups have highlighted the need for "increased and sustained aid to respond to immediate and ongoing needs."
The hostilities was initiated by an offensive in the autumn of 2023. Later campaigns have resulted in a high number of fatalities in the region, based on medical data.
