Patrick Bamford Signs With the Blades Despite Leading Derogatory Songs About Coach Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has signed with Sheffield United only seven months following starting disrespectful songs aimed at their manager, Wilder.

This experienced striker, a free agent since leaving Leeds United, has agreed to a contract with the second-tier strugglers through the winter. Bamford's seven-year spell with Leeds finished amicably in August.

One of Bamford’s final notable acts while at Leeds was to lead abusive songs regarding Chris Wilder amid Leeds' promotion party this spring. Currently, the one-cap England international will feature for Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to pull his beloved club away from the drop zone.

Past Conflict Involving the Striker & the Manager

The pair had previous conflict before Leeds earned promotion back to the top flight last season and United lost the promotion decider to Sunderland. The manager described Bamford as a "muppet" when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and Sheffield United won automatic promotion whereas Leeds United missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Making Amends & Moving Forward

All appears to have been resolved with Sheffield United, the league's lowest scorers, in desperate need of a boost in attack while Bamford looking to resurrect his career.

The song about Wilder gained traction in April. An apologetic Bamford along with Leeds boss, Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the next day.

Wilder commented at the time: “Spoke with Pat recently and I’ve no problem at all with it. I'm uncertain regarding the words used from a fellow professional! However I appreciated and respected him calling me.

“We had 20 minutes and the same again I spoke to Daniel Farke too and we had a longer discussion with him and he is a super guy, a top guy. Back in my playing days we used to dish it out and take it and that’s part and parcel of the game across all levels, including Sunday league. I've got no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I said that to Pat.”
