The Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Showdown Against Los Angeles Dodgers
George Springer previously helped the Astros winning the championship in 2017.
The Toronto Blue Jays reached their first championship series since 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the final Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Down three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run home run in the seventh, leading the Toronto squad in MLB to a 4-3 victory in the series. Awaiting them are the defending champions, who are the reigning title, in the anticipated World Series.
"I'm thrilled for our team, our city, Canada," Springer stated, a key player of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 title. "It's truly an amazing experience."
The veteran has now connected for 23 total October home runs, placing him third on the list trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine anyone else in the world that I'd choose in that situation except for Springer with his October magic," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle, despite leading the early in the series, remain the one club that has never reached in a Fall Classic.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "without a doubt that it's going to sting" in the wake of his team's loss at Rogers Centre, but applauded their efforts throughout the year.
"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we had to come out on the wrong side of this game," he continued.
The Blue Jays secured the title on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the opener on Friday.
