The President Calls Families of Injured Guard Personnel to White House
Former President Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the presidential home.
He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Incident
Specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Memorials across the state have been held in their honor.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a White House visit for the loved ones of both individuals of the West Virginia National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president told reporters. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”
Community Support
Community members gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s government program to support law enforcement in Washington DC.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that teachers wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a bright grin and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, informed the press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to support those in need.”
Service details for Sarah are in the process of planning.
Judicial Actions and Policy Changes
Law enforcement have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while armed.
The event caused the administration to pause refugee claims and halt granting entry permits to owners of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of the Airman
Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the news agency.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.
Attorney general Pam Bondi told a news show that she planned to meet with the family.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, per the state guard.
“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had bravery,” he addressed the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
