Kai Trump will have multiple prominent backers when she makes her professional golf debut on Thursday.

The 18-year-old athlete, who is the granddaughter of a former US president, received a sponsor's invitation to compete at Florida's Annika event in the Sunshine State.

Her grandfather, an avid golfer, possesses several international courses and regularly competes against Kai.

"He's fairly competent. I can't say much but we play tight competitions," she revealed.

The golfer shared that her grandfather, who won't be present, told her: "Just avoid anxiety."

"He basically advised me to compete and have fun," she continued.

"To me, he's simply a regular grandfather. He won't be there for the tournament. He's occupied with running the country, so he's rather occupied."

While still amateur, the golfer has played in a mere three competitions in 2024 and holds ranking 461 in AJGA listings.

However she's able to seek guidance from golf legend, romantically involved with Kai's mother.

"He stands as the top athlete in the world," Kai stated.

"Furthermore, he's a superior human being. He told me to go out there, have fun, following the flow."

Kai will face several the biggest names in professional golf at the Annika, such as world number two Nelly Korda, England's golfer Hull, Lexi Thompson and 2023 champion Lilia Vu.

Tournament organizers commented that involving Kai brings the sport to wider groups, specifically with youth audiences.

The social media influencer maintains millions of followers and recently launched an exclusive fashion and living company.

She begins at 5:30 PM GMT.
