Two Men Face Charges Over Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack
Formal charges have been brought against two men following a luggage theft where a suspected pepper spray caused injuries at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two robbery charges and charges for deploying a toxic agent, according to official statements.
This legal action stems from an probe of an assault at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Earlier that day, two women were robbed of their suitcases taken after getting out of a parking garage elevator, police said.
A young child was one of the people hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals required hospital care and were subsequently released.
The incident – which authorities stated was a standalone event and not considered a terror-related act – led to train delays and the temporary blocking of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a limited duration.
